Aged 75 and staying at Santhome Unit says
“I am a native of Trichy and am residing in this Santhome Centre for over seven years. I am married and my husband had passed away long back. I have no children. Some years back, I met with an accident and there was no one to take care of me. Hence, some friends brought me to “Kaakkum Karangal”. I am taken care very well. For ailments, I am taken to a nearby clinic. Food served is good. I am very comfortable here.”
Aged 85 and a resident of Santhome Centre has this to say
“I hail from Rajahmundry of Andhra Pradesh. I was engaged in the film industry and was very prosperous. I was married and my wife had passed away. I have a daughter who is married off. I was ailing seriously and there was no one to take care of me. On the advice of my doctors, I came to “Kaakkum Karangal”. Here I am staying for the past five years and I am taken care very well. I am very happy to reside here.
Aged 65 and staying in Santhome Unit says
“I am a native of Tirunelveli. I was a driver. I got married and a son was born late. He is now studying. I came to Madras during 1969. As there was no one to take care of me, I came to “Kaakkum Karangal”. I am staying here for the last four years and I am very happy here. I do not have any problem for food and clothing.I am given good medical assistance when required.”
Aged 80 staying for the last six years in the Thiruvanmiyur Centre expresses:
“I am a native of Madurai and my husband had passed way. I have no children. I was a cook. Due to the death of my husband, I came to Chennai along with my brothers. Because of ailments, since some years I could not work. Some known people brought me to “Kaakkum Karangal”. My basic necessities are taken care of well here including my medical assistance at times of need..
Aged 70 staying in the Thiruvanmiyur Centre says
“I am a native of Chennai. I was staying in Thousand Lights area. My husband had passed away long back. I have no children. I was doing some work and managing myself. But after some time, I could not do any physical work. Therefore, through some friends, I came to “Kaakkum Karangal”. I am staying here for the last three years. I am very happy. Food and clothing are provided. Medicines are also given, when I become ill.”
Aged 69, staying here for the last two and a half years expresses
“I am a Kannadiga, hailing from Hosur near Bangalore. I was very prosperous and led a comfortable life with properties and land for cultivation. My husband was a farmer. We had four children but only one has survived today. My husband died because of mental ailment. Unfortunately, in one year alone, I lost four members of my family. I lost all my prosperities. I later worked as a cook. Because of my health, I cannot work now. Hence, as advised by some friends, I came to “Kaakkum Karangal”.I am happy to be here. I have no problem for food and clothing. “Kaakkum Karangal” takes care of me well.”
